Lake Minnewanka

Approaching Banff from Calgary on Hwy #1 turn right after taking the first Banff / Lake Minnewanka exit. Turn right at the "T" intersection. Follow this road across a Texas gate to the first right hand turn. Here you will find a sign posted for Two Jack Lake. Turn here and follow the road for 6km past Two Jack Lake on the right to Lake Minnewanka.

Hazards:
Hazards of this dive are depth, cold, power boats, fishing line and altitude.

Diver Experiance:
Considered to be an advanced dive due to depth, cold water and altitude.

Entry & Exit Points:
When parked along side the road near the out house, you will see stairs leading down to the waters edge. You can safely enter at any point along the shoreline.

Bottom Contour:
A gradual slope.

Bottom Composition:
Silty and sand bottom throughout.

Currents:
None.

Water Temperature
Anywhere from 40° - 55° F. (4° - 12° C)

Visibility:
Usually between 5 - 30 feet. May be near zero in June due to spring run off.

Depth:
Depths are mostly 50 feet on the road and up to 80 feet on the last wood crib.

Marine Life:
Marine Life consists of Lake Trout, Rainbow Trout and Whitefish. Fresh water shrimp and snails.

Vegetation:
Vegetation consists of grassy weed beds and old tree stumps.

Underwater Attractions:
Underwater attractions are the concrete pilings and wood trestles to old town site remains.
