Entry & Exit Points:
All city lakes have easy gradual sloped entries from sandy / gravel shores. Some also allow for deep-water entries from boat docks.
Bottom Contour:
Very gradual descents with no large variances in depth.
Bottom Composition: Silt, mud, small rocks, some vegetation. Chaparral has a gravel pad for training purposes.
Currents:
Only surface currents if weather conditions are windy.
Water Temperature
Anywhere from 48° - 65° F (8° - 18° C).
Visibility:
3 to 30 feet depending on weather and who was in the water previously.
Depth:
Drops to a maximum depth of 20ft.
Marine Life: Few stocked trout or whitefish.
Vegetation:
Algae, grasses.
Underwater Attractions:
Lake Chaparral has a number of obstacles to navigate to and swim through.
